Sonora, CA — Every year at this time the Stanislaus National Forest announces its seasonal road and trail closure, which run from December 16 through April 14, 2015. However, this year Mother Nature has added a twist. The blustery, wet weather over the forest has forced the closure of the Summit Ranger District Forest Service roads and gates beginning at 4 p.m. today.
Forest Service spokesperson Rebecca Garcia says, “Once weather permits, the roads that are typically opened year round will reopened, but if it is a seasonal closure the road will remain closed down.”
Garcia says no other Districts in the forest have closed the roads due to the nasty weather.
