Sonora, CA — It appears the completion of the Mono Way Widening Project is in the hands of Mother Nature. Barring an act from her, Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo has concluded the final paving will not happen until the spring.
Fuccillo explains, “The temperatures at night are not conducive to doing a reasonable paving job. Unless we get some tropical weather in January or February, the main overlay and final striping is going to get put off until March.” Even so, Fuccillo stresses motorists will be able to drive on the roadway throughout the winter.
An artist has been painting some test panels on the wall to determine the final coloring. The one chosen can be seen in the pictures to the left. Fuccillo says crews hope to paint the rest of the wall starting December 29, and be finished by the second week in January, weather permitting.
