Sonora, CA — Two houseboats were deemed not salvageable following a fire that occurred late Wednesday night on Lake Don Pedro near Fleming Meadows, according to Cal Fire reports.
Dispatched to the scene at 10:26 p.m., Cal Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams says that, upon arrival, responding units found two houseboats fully involved. She reports that the incident closed at 11:51 p.m. and the investigation is not yet complete. While it is unclear if the houseboats were occupied at the time, no injuries were reported. Responding units included a Battalion Chief, Engine and Prevention Officer, according to Williams.
The past few days in the Mother Lode have been busy, fire-wise. Early Tuesday morning, Cal Fire dispatched units at 4 :27 a.m. to the 13000 block of Jenny Lind Road in Big Hill to attend to another residential fire. Two Battalion Chiefs, two Cal Fire Engine units, three Tuolumne County Fire Engine units, two Water-tenders and a Safety Officer responded to the scene, along with a Columbia College breathing support engine, and resources from the Columbia Fire Protection District. Upon arrival, the residence was 25 percent involved. No injuries were listed, according to the incident report, which did not indicate if anyone was home at the home; however, the Red Cross was notified to provide on site assistance.
