Water Official Under Fire For Tuolumne County Incident

Tuolumne County, CA — A water official with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is likely to face discipline after being caught urinating in an empty reservoir in Tuolumne County.

The story has generated a lot of media attention in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Associated Press reports that San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Maintenance Planner Martin Sanchez is under investigation after multiple witnesses claimed he urinated “several times” in the Priest Reservoir. The reservoir had been drained for maintenance, so it did not pose any health issues, however, the act has been deemed unacceptable by the SF Public Utilities Commission.

The Priest Reservoir is one of four reservoirs in the Hetch Hetchy system. It is unknown what type of punishment Sanchez could receive.
