Sonora, CA — It was another packed house…or should we say street… as more than 170 entries made their way down Washington Street bringing smiles to thousands lining the roadway in downtown Sonora.
To the beat of area bands, parade goers tapped toes, clapped hands and even danced. Horses galloped, cars rolled, and the ‘Mother of the Year’ Clete Stafford waved from her carriage while the Round-up Queen and her court rode by to the cheering crowd. If you missed the parade, you can view some of the fun and floats from the pictures in the upper left hand box.
The big event for the remainder of the day is the Rodeo at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora. Sheriff’s Posse Member and Rodeo Organizer Dan Durnall says a special attraction this year is “The Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls.” They’re a trick riding, trick roping organization that entertains. “We had them eight years ago so folks may recognize some of them,” says Durnall “It’s really an entertaining fun time.”
The rodeo begins at 2 p.m. The cost is listed below:
$18.00 Regular Admission
$15.00 Presale
$7.00 Child (7-12)
Under 7 FREE
Tonight there is the dance that starts at 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds. You can view all the Round-up activities for Sunday by clicking here.
