Update: Truck Fire Extinguished In Calaveras County

Update at 9:50am: The Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department has provided more details on a truck fire that shutdown Highway 12 for a period of time earlier this morning Valley Springs. The commercial vehicle truck fire ignited at around 5:45am across from the Zippy Mart Gas Station. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to any nearby vegetation or the rear trailer. No injuries were reported. CAL Fire and the San Andreas Fire Department also assisted. The exact cause is still under investigation. Highway 12 is back open to vehicle traffic.

Original story posted at 6:15am: Valley Springs, CA — A semi-truck has caught on fire on Highway 12 near Lime Creek Road in the Valley Springs area.

The driver was able to safely get out of the vehicle. Traffic is being diverted early this morning to Upper and Lower Lime Creek Road. Be prepared for a delay in the area. The fire started at around 5:45am.
