Sonora, CA — The California Department of Fish and Wildlife put-down a mountain lion that wandered into the backyard of a Sonora home.
It happened early Sunday morning in the 100 block of Columbia Way. The Sonora Police Department was notified about the mountain lion, and officers responded to the area. Upon finding the animal, the PD requested Fish and Wildlife to respond. After observing the animal for about an hour, Fish and Wildlife determined that the animal was “sick and suffering” and made the decision to put the animal down.
The Police Department had received multiple calls about a mountain lion roaming in that area over the past several weeks. The PD reports that it is unclear if the sightings have all been the same mountain lion.
