Tuolumne County, CA –A single-vehicle, DUI-related accident Sunday evening resulted in one fatality and sent three passengers to the hospital, including a toddler.
According to the California Highway Patol (CHP) Jamestown Unit, around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, 30-year-old Jessica Falknor, of San Jose, was eastbound on Highway 132, east of Bonds Flat Road, at an undetermined rate of speed when she drifted off the right side of the road. Attempting to re-steer the vehicle, a 2004 Honda, back onto the road, investigators say she instead drove across the left side of the highway, where it left the road and rolled over as it traveled down a steep embankment.
Dead at the scene of head trauma was the right front passenger, Bryon Stutts, 29, of San Jose. According to the CHP he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Along with Falknor, her other two passengers, 20-year-old Kathryn Falknor and a three-year-old female, both San Jose residents, received moderate injuries. The three-year-old was the only properly restrained occupant in the vehicle, CHP states. After it was determined she was under the influence of alcohol, the driver was subsequently arrested while under treatment at Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto.
