Mono County, CA — A 1,200 acre fire is burning in Mono County, and there is no containment.
An evacuation notice has been issued for the community of Lee Vining. Several campgrounds in the area have also been evacuated. The fire is burning north of Walker Lake. Highway 120 Tioga Pass is closed between Highway 395 and Blue Shield. Many side roads are also blocked off. The fire is burning in mixed conifer, mahogany and brush. A critical sage grouse habitat is also threatened. Over 300 firefighters are assigned to the incident. There are five helicopters on scene, four dozers, several engines, and more resources on order.
