This Saturday and Sunday, the Gold and Outdoor Festival will take place at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.
Robert Guardiola, President of Delta Gold Diggers, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The Delta Gold Diggers is and organization that is dedicated to the education and preservation of small scale mining in the Mother Lode. Delta Gold Diggers is the local chapter of the greater Gold Prospectors of America.
The Gold and Outdoor Festival will take place this Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM and on Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM.
According to Guardiola, this is a family-oriented, fun and interactive festival that celebrates participating in everything outdoors.
Gold panning demonstrations will be given and participants can keep some of the gold they find.
A total of ten speakers will provide lectures on a variety of topics ranging from where to go, how to go and what to do when you get there.
There will be both “thousand of dollars” worth of prizes and raffles given away at the Festival.
Available food includes sausage, kettle corn, ice cream and more.
Admission price is $5 per person and it is free for children twelve years old and younger.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
