Wildcat Ranch is a 138 acre piece of property at the corner of Wards Ferry and Tuolumne Road. It is an extension of Sonora High School.
Robert Mayben, Wildcat Ranch Manager, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
According to Mayben, this is a multi-purpose outdoor learning center for all of the local schools, and is run by Sonora High School students and faculty.
Various student groups are learning how to garden, grow food, harvest potatoes, irrigate land, take care of bees and raise livestock.
This Friday, there will be an open house from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM. The community is invited to see the property.
Several bags of potatoes will be sold in addition to tomatoes and peppers and other local products.
The money will be put back into the ranch and some of it will be given to the garden clubs.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
