Labor Day Weekend Brings Visitors

Sonora, CA — Many spent the holiday weekend enjoying area lakes and recreational opportunities,  and others took in events like the Strawberry Music Festival.

It has resulted in heavy traffic being reported throughout the Mother Lode on this Labor Day.

An area that has been notably slow-and-go is the Highway 108 corridor, so allow yourself extra time today. The CHP is in the midst of a maximum enforcement period until 11:59pm. All available officers are out on the roads.

Some of the traffic is of campers leaving the popular Strawberry Music Festival which was held at the Westside property. The community of Tuolumne was a buzz over the weekend. Festival officials were not immediately available for comment today in regards to attendance figures. The final performance last night featured Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy. It was the first time the festival was held in Tuolumne County since being displaced from Camp Mather as a result of the 2013 Rim Fire.
