Double Collision On Highway 49

Carson Hill, CA — A solo wreck on the Highway 49 turns into a rear end collision with a motorcycle.

The double accident happened Thursday at 10:30 p.m. south of Red Hill Road near Carson Hill. The CHP reports 18-year-old Collin McManmon of La Grange, driving a 1988 Ford F-150, had just wrecked the truck and it was disabled in the southbound lane of the highway. Approximately five minutes later, 46-year-old Brett Thomas of Sonora driving a 2001 Suzuki SV650 came around a curve, saw the pickup and tried to brake but lost control of the bike and smashed into the rear end of the truck, according to the CHP.

Thomas suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center. McManmon was not hurt in the accident. The CHP report neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
