Groveland Resident Killed In Fatal Highway 120 Crash

Groveland, CA — The CHP is still working to identify all of the five people killed in a tragic crash on Saturday evening just outside of Groveland.

Two vehicles collided on Highway 120 near Smith Station Road, a 2012 Nissan Maxima and a 2012 Mercedes SUV. The driver of the Nissan, 22-year-old Marcos Lopez Martinez of Groveland was pronounced dead at the scene. His only passenger, 22-year-old Sasha Magana of Merced, was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto to treat major injuries. The CHP reports that four females in the Mercedes also died, but they have not yet been identified. The vehicle was registered out of San Jose. A fifth female, identified as Jeongsoo Yang of Saratoga, was flown to a hospital in Modesto to treat major injuries. Drug or alcohol use have not been ruled out as a factor in the crash. Anyone that witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the CHP at 209-984-3944. It happened at around 6:30pm.
