Officers Use K-9 And Taser To Catch Chase Suspect

West Point, CA — A man was arrested following a two-hour vehicle pursuit in Calaveras County.

A CHP Officer tried to pull over 30-year-old Eric Eugene Rummerfield Jr. on Bummerville Road, south of Winton Road, in West Point. The officer had spotted several vehicle code violations. Rummerfield refused to pull over, so several law enforcement officials ended up chasing him through West Point for a couple of hours. Eventually the chase ended at the intersection of Highway 26 and Woodhouse Mine Road. Rummerfield jumped out of the car and started to flee on foot. He was then tased by an officer, but continued his attempt to escape. A law enforcement K-9 was then deployed, and Rummerfield was successfully taken into custody.

Inside the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine and a handgun.
