Remodeling Brings Extended Prompt Care Hours

Sonora, CA — As the emergency rooms get a facelift at Sonora Regional Medical Center, the hospital is expanding the hours at one of its prompt care facilities to help with patient volume.

Hospital officials explain that the emergency department was originally designed to handle 80 patients a day but now sees on average 110 prompting the extensive remodel to the emergency, admitting and lobby area. The ER will remain open during the construction, but to offset patient volume the Indian Rock Prompt Care, located at 14540 Mono Way in Sonora, has added two hours a day to the weekday schedule.

Hospital spokesperson Gail Witzlsteiner says, “The main thing is that we want to provide the best care for the patient. So, a patient who goes to the prompt care should be going there for the level of care that they need. In other words, if someone is having chest pains they should not go to the prompt care but they should go to the emergency department.”

The Indian Rock hours are now Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, the Angels Camp Prompt Care is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointment are not needed at either location.

These new hours will remain in place for the entire ER construction, which is slated to be completed mid- to late 2016.
