Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County Sheriff Jim Mele will share his opinions about a recent spike in burglaries and address other hot-button topics.
Mele will be the guest on this weekend’s Mother Lode Views. We reported earlier this week that Tuolumne County had 86 burglary cases over a recent 60 day period. That marks a 79 percent increase over the same span last year. The Sheriff will speak about what he feels is causing the disturbing trend. Mele will also talk about a recent packed town hall meeting in Groveland were several residents voiced concerns about criminal activity, and what the Sheriff’s Office is doing in response.
In addition, he will talk about the SWAT Team’s new BEARCAT MedCat, and why he felt it was important for his office to get the vehicle. He will also share opinions about the safety of local schools, following recent high profile incidents, and give an update on the planning for a new jail.
