A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the Sierra Nevada through 7 AM Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, snow levels will lower to 4000 feet by this evening. Some snow could fall to as low as 3000 feet.
Total snow accumulations of two to three inches are expected above 3000 feet. Six to sixteen inches of snow is likely above 5000 feet. One to three feet of snow could fall above 7,000 feet.
Winds of thirty to forty mph will continue with gusts ranging up to seventy-five mph.
Another very similar storm system will move into the area Sunday and continue through Sunday night.
A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are either expected or are occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
