San Andreas, CA — Calaveras residents can plan to get rid of old, unused, expired and unwanted drugs in a couple of different ways, courtesy of local law enforcement.
This coming Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at a free, “Drop the Drugs” event, funded through an anti-drug abuse justice assistance grant, Calaveras County residents have three drop-off sites where they can anonymously part with pharmaceuticals, no questions asked. These locations are at the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department (129 East Highway 12), Valley Springs; the Calaveras County Office of Education (185 South Main Street), Angels Camp; and Murphys Fire Department (37 Jones Street). According to sheriff’s officials, its San Andreas office (1045 Jeff Tuttle Drive) continues to provide a secure box in the lobby where drugs can be dropped during normal business hours.
The Angels Camp Police Department recently debuted a secure drop box for expired and unused medication at its main office lobby (200 Monte Verde Street) for drugs during business hours. Police officials ask residents to please note that sharps are not accepted and additionally instruct that drugs should remain in their original container or placed in zip lock style bags, prior to being placed in the drop box for disposal.
