Columbia, CA — An altercation ended a boys high school basketball game last night between Sonora and Merced.
Merced was leading 58-54 with less than a minute to play and some pushing and shoving began, leading to players on both teams getting technical fouls. Details are not entirely clear, but Clarke Broadcasting has learned that one of the Merced players hit a fan in the audience. Getting the sense that things were getting out of hand, the game was ended early, and Merced ended up winning. The game was part of the Holiday Classic tournament at Columbia College. There were no major injuries reported.
