Update at 6:45 p.m.: The CHP reports the lights are working at the intersection of Mono Way and Highway 108 Bypass once again. It took Caltrans crews about half an hour to fix the stoplight once they arrived on scene. Traffic was backed up in the area and caused delays during the evening commute as the signal malfunction began around 4 p.m. Friday.
Update at 5:30 p.m.: The CHP reports a Caltrans crew has arrived on scene and hope to have the lights working within the hour. The lights have been blinking since around 4 p.m. causing major traffic delays for the evening commute.
Original Post at 5:16 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Delays for evening commuters as the light at the intersection of Mono Way and Highway 108 bypass next to Sonora Ford is blinking.
The flashing light is causing major traffic delays in both directions. Heading into Sonora, traffic is backed up all the way to the Peppery Restaurant. Motorists in the area may want to find an alternative route. The CHP advises motorists to enter the bypass at either the South Washington Street or Hess Ave locations. Caltrans has been called to the scene but there is no word on what caused the light malfunction or an estimated time of repair, according to the CHP. We will bring you an update as soon as new details come into the newsroom.
