Carson Hill, CA – An embankment ends a chase by Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies and puts the driver in handcuffs.
Sheriff’s officials have not released any information on this incident. So it is not known how the chase began, what the driver, 55-year-old David Hunter of Pleasanton, was wanted for or the charges he now faces.
The CHP assisted with the crash reporting that it happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday on Highway 49 south of Red Hill Road in Carson Hill. Hunter, driving a 1992 Ford Econoline van heading southbound at about 60 mph with a patrol car chasing him, lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve. The van smashed into a dirt embankment and rolled onto its right side blocking the northbound lane.
Hunter suffered minor injuries and was treated at Mark Twain Medical Center, after which he was arrested. An investigation is ongoing, according to the CHP, which notes that drug or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
