Butte Fire Recovery Progress

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County officials report that work is complete at 424 of the 817 properties in the Butte Fire debris removal program, eclipsing the 50% mark.

29 crews are out working in the field, seven days a week. Erosion control measures are now complete at 232 sites, which includes assessment, design of site specific erosion control measures, and placement of straw on properties. Long range debris removal schedules are not available for other specific properties.

In addition, this week the Butte Fire Recovery team recognized efforts of the volunteers that worked at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds as Butte Fire “Unsung Heroes.” Volunteers worked tirelessly to help people and animals that were evacuated during the fire. The fairgrounds was also the location of the Butte Fire base camp.
