The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.
Snow levels will initially be near 7,000 feet on Wednesday but will lower to around 3,500 to 4,000 feet by Thursday morning.
Total snow accumulations will range from two to ten inches above 5,000 feet. One to two feet of snow will fall above 7,000 feet.
Winds of twenty-five to thirty-five mph are forecast. Gusts over the higher terrain will range from fifty to sixty-five mph.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Expect chain requirements and possible delays.
