A Motorist’s 911 Call Makes A Difference

Sonora, CA — Following a Good Samaritan’s road stop and subsequent emergency phone call for medical aid, a 58-year-old missing woman is heading back to her family say police.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Sonora Area Unit, a concerned female motorist made the 911 call Wednesday afternoon after stopping to check out a vehicle with a female driver inside who had pulled over onto the shoulder of Highway 108 by Lime Kiln Road. The motorist, after asking if the driver needed help, decided that all was not well with the woman and that perhaps she was suffering from a medical issue. Responding officers concurred and called an ambulance to transport the ailing driver to Sonora Regional Medical Center, where a further check determined that she was a Davis area resident, reported missing Feb. 27, with prior mental illness issues. The woman was evaluated at the hospital so that she could be released to family members who indicated the incident was the first time she had disappeared in this manner. CHP unit officials call the outcome a fortunate one, adding their hope that the the woman continues to receive the necessary assistance.
