Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Transportation Council endorsed the idea of constructing a trail and bike park near the Sonora library, and submitted a grant request for funding.
We first reported on the proposed project last week. TCTC Transportation Planner Tyler Summersett reports that the Board of Directors voted 4-1 yesterday in favor of plans for the 1-mile trail, and park area. The property, near the main library, senior center, and Heaven for Kids park, is owned by the county. TCTC will now take the next step and work with county staff in hopes of gaining needed approval to make it happen. The lone TCTC vote in opposition was outgoing Sonora City Council member Ron Stearn. The TCTC is made up of members of the City Council, Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors and general public.
The TCTC Board also voted yesterday to submit a grant request to the Sierra Health Foundation, in hopes of receiving $14,500 to fund the proposed project.
