Update at 1:30 p.m.: The CHP has released the name of the driver involved in a truck versus guardrail crash that blocked the southbound lane of O’Byrnes Ferry Road at the Copper Cove Drive intersection in Copperopolis Thursday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. The CHP reports 36-year-old Jason Gribaudo of Lodi lost control of his pickup on a curve, and crashed into a guardrail. The force of the impact sent soil flying out a trailer he was hauling. Nearly 6 yards of soil covered the southbound lane of the roadway. Traffic was backed up in both directions during the busy evening commute for nearly 2 1/2 hours as road crews used shovels to clear the dirt.
Update at 7:05 p.m.: The CHP reports a road crew using shovels have removed the 5 to 6 yards of soil are covering the southbound lane of on O’Byrnes Ferry Road at the Copper Cove Drive intersection in Copperopolis. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. after a pickup truck hauling a trailer full of dirt hit a guardrail, overturning the trailer and spilling the dirt onto the roadway. Officers direct traffic for about 2 1/2 hours.
Update at 5:45 p.m.: The CHP has called in a road crew to clean up the 5 to 6 yards of soil are covering one-lane of on O’Byrnes Ferry Road at the Copper Cove Drive intersection in Copperopolis. A pickup truck pulling a trailer full of dirt collided with a guardrail, overturning the trailer and spilling the dirt onto the roadway. Officers continue to direct traffic.
Original post at 5:15 p.m.: Copperopolis, CA — The CHP is on the scene of a crash that has spilled soil across one-lane of O’Byrnes Ferry Road, clogging traffic.
The CHP reports a pickup truck pulling a trailer full of dirt has hit a guardrail and overturned on O’Byrnes Ferry Road at the Copper Cove Drive intersection in Copperopolis. The southbound lane is blocked and CHP officers are directing traffic, which is backed up in both directions. The CHP reports 5 to 6 yards of soil are covering the road.
