New Roundup Queen To Be Crowned

Sonora, CA — Three girls will vie for the title of Mother Lode Roundup Queen this weekend.

The Horsemanship competition is Saturday morning and the coronation will come Sunday evening.

This year’s candidates are Annie Torok, Samantha Turner and Karissa Rogers. The horsemanship competition is free and open to the public. It starts at 10am at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. The pageant itself starts at 5pm the following day at the Sonora Opera Hall. There is a $10 fee at the door and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The outgoing Roundup Queen, Paige Ryan, says she traveled over 10,000 miles representing the Roundup at various events over the past 12 months. She joking says, “They have some sassy shoes to fill. I’m quirky and have had an awesome year with the Posse. The girls will all be awesome contenders for this amazing title.”

The Roundup itself is coming up May 7-8. You can find all the event details by clicking here. New this year is also a Junior Queen competition for girls between the ages of 12-15.
