San Andreas, CA – The evening commute was fouled as four vehicles collided on Highway 49; one with no driver behind the steering wheel.
The accident happened on Monday in San Andreas just before 5 p.m. near Treat Avenue. The CHP reports 37-year-old Celina Bowling of Valley Springs was driving southbound in 2012 Chevrolet when she smashed into the back end of a 2014 Mercedes manned by Robert Ornelas, 59, of Arnold. The Mercedes then crashed into a Mini Cooper parked along the street. Bowling then hit a 2013 Cadillac driven by 84-year-old Angelo Archini of Angels Camp. Archini and his passenger 79-year-old Jessie Archini suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to Mark Twain Medical Center for treatment.
The roadway created a traffic jam in the area for more than a half hour. The CHP reports that alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the multi-vehicle wreck.
