Update: Fire Near Lake Don Pedro

Update at 5:40 p.m.:  CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that fire crews have a handle on what is being called the Johnson Fire in the Lake Don Pedro area of Tuolumne County. She added that the flames’ forward rate of spread has been stopped at an estimated 25 acres in size. The flames broke out in some grass just after 4 p.m. in the 4200 block of Avenida Lugo Road, off J-59/La Grange Road. Kilgore added that ground crews would remain on the scene mopping up and checking on hotspots for the next couple of hours. What ignited the fire is under investigation.

Original post at 4:35 p.m.: Tuolumne County, CA — Air and ground resources are battling a vegetation fire in the Lake Don Pedro area of Tuolumne County.

The blaze broke out in some grass and is located in the 4200 block of Avenida Lugo Road, off J-59/La Grange Road. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore details that the blaze is 10 acres in size and moving at a moderate rate of spread. There is no word on whether any structures are threatened.
