Tuolumne County Chamber Of Commerce Annual Luau

After several years of difficult economic times in Tuolumne County, is business finally beginning to flourish?

Mike Ayala, Executive Director, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“The state of business in Tuolumne County continues to remain a little rough,” says Ayala. “This county had a tough few years with the Rim Fire, the government shut-down, the shut down of the mill, the on-going drought and the lack of snow in the Sierra. We are growing, but slowly. We are starting to see new business members join the Chamber. We are here to help local business owners and we have continued to offer programs, plans and personal face-to-face conversations to help our members stay in business.”

Ayala emphasizes shopping locally and he makes sure that the Chamber backs those words with direct action.

The Chamber sponsors and/or directly put on several events throughout the year including quarterly town hall lunches, business expos and monthly mixers.

One large annual event returning this year is coming up this Friday night. “A Taste of the Islands Luau” will be held at the Lazy-Z Resort located on 2732 Middle Camp Rd in Twain Harte.

Ayala promises an evening of tropical food, drink, leis, fire jugglers, hulas, Hawaiian music, raffles, auction and more. The hours run from 5 PM – 9 PM.

“It is meant to be a relaxing evening and an ideal way to begin this Father’s Day weekend”, said Ayala. “The weather and temperatures should be ideal.”

This event has replaced what used to be the annual Chamber Golf Tournament.

Tickets are still still available at $50 each and can be purchased at the Chamber office.

All of the detailed information can be found on the website at www.tcchamber.com or by calling (209) 532-4212.

Ayala is a retired Commander with the CHP, and has been an active volunteer for the Chamber, Kiwanis Club, Tuolumne County Transportation Council and the Belleview Oaks Mutual Water Company.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am
