Appaloosa Fire Containment Grows

Angels Camp, CA — Cal Fire reports firefighters are continuing to make progress as the Appaloosa Fire’s containment hits 75 percent.

That is a 10 percent increase from Monday. As first reported by Clarke Broadcasting, the fire, which remains at 310 acres, broke out in some grass around 1 p.m. last Saturday at a home on Appaloosa Road between Pinto Drive and Hunter Street, about two miles south of Highway 4. The property owner was working on an electrical panel breaker box, which sparked the blaze, according to Cal Fire. The individual was cited for negligently causing a fire and allowing a fire to spread off his land. On Tuesday, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Matt Gilbert told Clarke Broadcasting that his agency is working with the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office with regard to releasing the property owner’s name, which will most likely come next week.

Personnel remaining on scene battling the blaze totals 310, and includes:
