Update: Stalled Bus Removed, HWY 120 Completely Reopened

Update at 3:30 p.m.: The CHP reports a stalled tour bus that forced officers to direct one-way traffic for nearly two and a half hours on a stretch of Highway 120 heading into Groveland has been removed. Sonora CHP Unit Officer Nick Norton says that another bus was brought in to pick up the passengers and take them to their final destination. Where that was, Norton did not know.

Original post 3:30 p.m.: Groveland, CA — If you’re heading towards Yosemite along Highway 120 expect delays as traffic is backed up due to a broken down bus.

The CHP reports a full size tour bus that had mechanical issues has stalled on the roadway near Merrell Road heading into Groveland.

Sonora CHP Unit Officer Nick Norton shares, “We do have a heavy duty tow truck on its way to remove the vehicle from the lane. It will be one-way traffic control on that stretch of roadway, which is pretty tight.” He adds that the tow truck is coming from Sonora and then will have to work to remove the bus, so he expects the roadway to be blocked for another hour and a half to two hours.

Norton did not know where the bus originated, the name of the company or the number of riders. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
