Sonora, CA — Thanks to lower oil prices and abundant supply, the average price of a gallon gas decreased seven cents over the past three weeks to a nationwide average of $2.29.
The Associated Press reports that it is 54 cents below the average price of one year ago at this time. The price in California is much higher than the national average due to the number of taxes placed on fuel, and higher environmental standards. Regular unleaded currently averages $2.88 per gallon, statewide. The myMotherLode.com gas price section shows regular unleaded is selling in Sonora from $2.55 to $2.89 and in San Andreas from $2.66 to $2.67.
