Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program Receives Grant

San Andreas, CA — A local youth mentoring program has received a $15,000 grant.

Calaveras Youth Mentoring was awarded the money from the Sierra Health Foundation, a private organization committed to improving the health and well-being of Northern California residents. The foundation recently awarded 36 grants totaling $500,000 across a 26 county region. 44% of those funds are going exclusively to rural areas. The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program is administered by the Calaveras County Office of Education and its mission is to connect local youth with safe, positive mentors who offer friendship, opportunity and support for making healthy life decisions.

Kathryn Eustis, Director of student support services at the Calaveras Office of Education, says, “We are deeply honored to have earned Sierra Health Foundation support. The Responsive Grants Program is highly competitive; ours was among over 200 applications considered for funding. We are grateful and excited to partner with one of the only regional foundations that offer operating support to programs like ours in rural communities.”

The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program has been running for over 12 years.
