‘Gallery’ Of 55 New Homes Reflects Brightening Times For Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA – As rumblings downtown indicate a Main Street revival in the coming months more than four dozen new homes, now in the works at Greenhorn Creek, signal yet another sign of local economic recovery in Angels Camp.

Privately held Sanson family-owned DeNova Homes out of northern California will officially debut its latest subdivision, dubbed The Gallery at Greenhorn Creek, on Aug. 20 with a shindig barbecue and a live band. The project has literally, been years in the making. Original plans to pull the trigger on construction unfortunately coincided with the Great Recession, effectively shelving the project until brighter times. After local conditions and a housing shortage emerged, largely due to the Butte Fire, the time now seems fully ripe.

According to Linda Hebert, the company’s marketing director, interior designers will be onsite next week, installing the furnishings in home models built to represent three of the four design options available in elevations evocative of Craftsmen and farmhouse styles that reflect local architecture. In the week ahead of the grand opening event, reps will offer previews to those who indicated interest online by signing up for a VIP preview.

Designed to fit in-between the two-bedroom cottages at Greenhorn Creek and the larger custom homes priced from about $500,000 to well over a million, the new models are sized from just under 1,700 to just over 2,400 square feet.

Designed For Easy Living, Entertaining

“All of them live like single-stories with master bedrooms on the main level and are designed for entertaining with large decks and patios for outdoor living,” Hebert describes. The targeted market segments seem very sensible: retiring locals and wannabes from the Sacramento and Bay areas looking for viable floor plans conducive to aging in place; also “pre-retireds” seeking vacation homes, perhaps to share with family.

The new neighborhood is located within walking distance to Camp’s restaurant and other Greenhorn Creek amenities. Pricing runs from the very low to high $400,000’s. Hebert adds that an onsite design center will be staffed with an interior designer to help buyers select finishes like flooring and lighting.

“I think the market is back, which is really exciting,” Hebert happily bubbles. “We have been watching — really closely — where the pricing levels are that homes are being purchased, and they have finally reached an area where we think the absorption should be appropriate for this community.” She adds, “We look forward to be bringing some decent growth to Greenhorn Creek and Angels Camp, as a whole. I think the market is strong enough to hold it — we took long hard looks at it to make sure that it is going to be a success — and I think this is the time to make that happen.”
