Update: Crash Causes Power Outage In Calaveras County

Update at 11:20 a.m.: PG&E crews have made progress on a PG&E outage impacting over 2,105 customers after a vehicle hit a power pole on Highway 108 in the Rancho Calaveras area of Calaveras County. The utility reports that the number of customers without electricity since 10:30 p.m. Friday has dropped to 174. However, their power is not expected to be restored until around 9 p.m., according to company officials. Details of the collision can be viewed below.

Update at 8:20 a.m.: PG&E has pushed back the estimated restoration time from 8 a.m. to sometime in the nine o’clock hour. Details on the collision and outages can be viewed below.

Original post at 7:15 a.m.: Rancho, Calaveras, CA — Over 2,000 PG&E customers have been without power since last night when a vehicle hit a power pole in the Rancho Calaveras area of Calaveras County.

The CHP reports that just after 10:30 p.m. Friday night, a vehicle smacked into a pole on Highway 26 near Olive Branch Drive. The vehicle then went off the roadway into a ditch. It brought down power lines and the pole across the highway, shutting down the highway, which that section of roadway remains closed. The CHP estimates the reopening of the Highway in the noon hour, so motorists will want to avoid the area.  Luckily, they are reporting no injuries in this crash.

The outage is impacting 2,105 PG&E customers on both sides of Highway 26. The utility is estimating the restoration time in the eight o’clock hour, which is when Highway 26 is expected to reopen.
