Full Containment Reached On Old Fire In Stanislaus National Forest

Groveland, CA — Full containment has been reached on the Old Fire burning in the Stanislaus National Forest.

What ignited the fire on September 13 at 1:55pm remains under investigation, according to the Forest Service. It started near the area of Old Yosemite Road in the Groveland Ranger District. It burned 150 acres of brushy vegetation and beetle killed trees. Many crews were released over the weekend, and the remaining firefighters will continue to patrol and mop-up any hot spots. Officials are also placing water bars and performing other rehabilitation work on dozer lines. There are currently 60 firefighters, five engines, a water tender and a hand crew. At one point there were four structures threatened but none were damaged. There was one firefighter injury.
