RV Park Waterline On T.U.D.’s Agenda

Sonora, CA — A proposal to extend water service to Black Oak Casino’s planned 105-space RV park is on Tuesday’s TUD agenda.

The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians, via its Tuolumne Economic Development Authority (TEDA), is planning to construct 2,300 ft. of 8-inch water pipeline to connect water service from the park to the existing TUD infrastructure. TEDA will cover the costs of the project, and then turn it over to TUD upon completion. The agreement stipulates that TUD will provide water to the location. Because the project is on federal tribal trust land, it is not subject to a CEQA review. If the project is approved by the TUD Board, the meeting documents note the positive fiscal impact for TUD would be water fees of $36,529. The site is situated adjacent to the existing casino, hotel and mini-mart.

Also on the agenda is whether to award a $99,985 tree removal contract to Sasha’s Land Clearing. The project includes the removal of 273 dead and dying trees near TUD infrastructure and an additional 170 trees posing a fire hazard in the vicinity of two TUD properties. The work would start soon after the contract is awarded and be completed by Mid-December, barring weather or other unanticipated delays.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 5:30pm in the TUD Board meeting room on Nugget Blvd in Sonora.
