Update: Hay Spill Cleared On Tuolumne Road

Update at 5:55 p.m.: The CHP reports the driver is an employee for Hay Movers Incorporated from Escalon and he was cited for spilling the load.  His name has not been released. There were no injuries involved in the crash. (Crash details below)

Update at 2:45 p.m.: The CHP reports a Tuolumne County road crew using a forklift has cleared all the straw from the roadway and traffic is moving freely once again.

Original post at 1:30 p.m.: East Sonora, CA — The CHP is on the scene of hay spill on the eastbound lane of Tuolumne Road at the Mono Way intersection.

Officers are directing traffic as a big rig hauling hay failed to make a turn onto Tuolumne Road and sent straw flying onto the roadway. The semi is also partially blocking the turn lane.  A Tuolumne County road crew is using a forklift to clear away the grass. Motorists are asked to slow down and use caution. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
