Man Arrested For Attempted Murder After Shooting Into Occupied Vehicle

Mountain Ranch, CA — Gun fire erupted around 8:35 a.m. Friday after a dispute between a man and woman in Mountain Ranch.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports Jim Clancy, 64, from Mountain Ranch faces charges of robbery and attempted murder after firing a hand gun into a car with two women inside. The incident happened on the 18000 block of Jesus Maria Road when Clancy allegedly confronted the women and took items belonging to the women out of the vehicle, according to sheriff’s officials. The victims were not injured but the vehicle was damaged by the gun fire.

Sheriff’s officials did not disclose what Clancy and the victims were fighting about just before the shooting.  Clancy was booked into the county jail. His bail is set at $2,200,000. The case is still active and under investigation, according to detectives.
