Sonora, CA — The CHP has identified the driver involved in a solo-vehicle wreck that brought traffic to a crawl on Highway 49 Tuesday afternoon.
The CHP reports the crash happened just before noon near Pesce Way when 59-year-old Carol Ann Haflich of Sonora driving a 2005 Toyota Camry southbound on the highway went off the roadway. CHP officer Faustino Pulido details, “She allowed her car to travel onto the right-hand shoulder, up an embankment and the car overturned coming to rest in the southbound lane on its roof.”
Haflich was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center suffering minor injuries. Officers were directing one-way traffic control for about 50 minutes as a tow crew worked to remove the wreckage and debris. Pulido reports neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
