Update: Fatal Crash Near Soulsbyville

Update at 3:25 p.m.: The CHP has released more details regarding a fatal crash on Highway 108 in the Soulsbyville area of Tuolumne County this morning.

The deceased is a 62-year-old man from Twain Harte. The CHP reports he was driving a Toyota pickup eastbound on the roadway, approaching Soulsbyville Road at an undetermined rate of speed, when he allowed his vehicle to go off the roadway. The truck went off the south shoulder of the highway, smashing into a tree.

The unidentified male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released pending notification of family. The CHP added that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have been factors in this crash.

Original post written by BJ Hansen at 8:40 a.m.: Soulsbyville, CA — The CHP is on the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 108 near Soulsbyville Road.

The tragic incident was reported at 8:08am. A pickup truck went off the road and hit a tree. The truck is about 20 feet off the highway. Travel with caution in the area and be prepared for activity.
