Sonora, CA — Following the resignation of Rita Austin last week, Steve Boyack was formally appointed this morning to be Tuolumne County’s Acting Director of Behavioral Health.
Boyack has five years of experience with the Behavioral Health Department, and up until now had been serving as the county’s Assistant Human Services Agency Director. The “acting appointment” can last up to a year, and it is set to expire once a permanent Behavioral Health Director is hired.
Anne Connolly, Human Services Agency Director, told the board of supervisors, “We are currently feverishly working on a recruitment plan, with the assistance of the CAO’s office, and its Human Resources division.”
State requirements, and ensuring administrative continuity without interruption to client services, led the county to quickly put in place an acting director.
Boyack’s appointment was approved 4-0, with Supervisor John Gray absent.
