Caltrans Plans, Beginning April 23

Sonora, CA — Heads up for these hot spots this week along the Mother Lode highways due to the Caltrans crew schedule.

Overnight guardrail improvements continue under an ongoing project along Highway 49/108. This week, expect ten-minute traffic interruptions starting up Sunday and running through Saturday morning.

Beginning at 9 p.m. until 6 a.m they will be working between Harvard Mine and Rolling Hills roads; from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Highway 108 between 49 and Old Wards Ferry Road; from 6 p.m. until 9 a.m. on a mile-plus long stretch focusing on Highway 108 in the Twain Harte area between the passing lane and Twain Harte Drive.

Too, shoulder work every weekday on Highway 108 on that three-mile Highway 120 Chinese Camp stretch may slow traffic for ten minutes at a time from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. As for the ongoing Highway 120/James E Roberts Bridge work this week near Lake Don Pedro, no overnight closures are in the works, so expect the customary ten-minute delays.

Calaveras Cone Zones

Along Highway 4, under a moving closure striping will be going on between Lakemont Drive near Arnold and the Alpine/Calaveras County line Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., slowing traffic for about ten minutes at a time. Travelers should also anticipate five to ten-minute delays every weekday on Highway 4 between Upper Moran Road and Big Trees Park while drainage work is underway from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

On Highway 12 every weekday, drainage and electrical work may also bring ten-minute traffic impacts between Messing and Evans roads, west of Valley Springs from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Good news for motorists traveling on Highway 26 west of West Point where a storm-damaged stretch was closed for several weeks. As reported here, it has reopened.
