Update: A Weekend Winter Storm Warning

The Winter Storm Warning for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada and Yosemite National Park will remain in effect until 10 PM this evening (Sunday).

The snow levels range between 3,500 to 4,500 feet.

Additional snow accumulations, heavy at times, will range from half-a-foot to seventeen inches above the 5,000 foot elevation. The higher you go, the more the snow.

Winds may continue to gust as high as fifty to sixty-five mph over the higher terrain. Very strong winds will bring reduced visibility and could cause tree damage.

The cold wind chills, as low as fifteen below zero, could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible at times, with slick roads and chain requirements.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
