Mother’s Day Weekend Events

This weekend is Mother’s Day but before that it is the Mother Lode Round-Up Parade and Rodeo weekend. This Saturday is also Second Saturday Art Night in Downtown Sonora, and there are several live theatre performances to watch.

The next Round-Up event will be the Calcutta at 6pm this evening at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Jamestown. Then Saturday is the parade and rodeo click here for more information.

Sierra Repertory Theatre has its last weekend of performances of NOISES OFF, a comedy about an acting troupe details are here.

The Fantasticks opens up this weekend at the East Sonora Sierra Repertory Theatre. The event listing about the romantic comedy is here.

Murphys Creek Theatre continues performing Speed-the-Plow which was selected from from four other choices by a poll of audience and community members. More about the fast-talking, quit-witted satire of Hollywood here.

Mother Lode Christian School (MLCS) invites you to their Spring Musical “STAR QUEST…Search for the Stolen Scriptures” and also a performance by the MLCS Cougar Band to start off the free open house event.  The event listing is here.

If you are feeling more active head to Mountain Ranch and take on the Stop, Drop & Mud 5K. The first of its kind event plans to have 16 obstacles along the route ranging from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. Details are here.

On Mother’s Day enjoy a breakfast with the La Grange Odd Fellows, as detailed here or visit Railtown 1897 for a special Mother’s Day event as detailed here. Up in Calaveras if you have sent in an RSVP for this Sunday enjoy the Dogwood Festival. The festival features music, hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting, quilt raffle and a private “Walk Among the Dogwoods” before the concert for ticket holders only. Ticket details are here.
