Angels Camp, CA — There was a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon in Calaveras County.
The CHP reports that 61-year-old Steven B. Cosper of Bakersfield was riding on Highway 49, near Red Hill Road, when he lost control of his 2007 Harley Davidson.
CHP Officer Rebecca Myers says, “The motorcyclist was passing other traffic while traveling southbound, in the northbound lane, at an estimated speed of 60 miles an hour, when he lost control. The motorcycle left the roadway, and overturned several times, ejecting the driver. The driver was not wearing a DOT approved helmet and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, and or drugs. The investigation is still ongoing.”
The crash happened at around 4:10pm. The rider was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
