Suess Crowned Mother Lode Roundup Queen

Sonora, CA — A new Mother Lode Roundup Queen was crowned Sunday evening at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.

Mary MacKenzie Suess was the big winner. She was the top finalist in the categories of high ticket sales, most photogenic, congeniality, appearance, horsemanship and the written test.

The other candidate, Taylor Mossa, won the speech, people’s choice and interview aspects of the competition.

Sunday kicks off a busy week for Suess, a Summerville High graduate, and student at Columbia College. On what she is looking forward to, she told Clarke Broadcasting, “Certainly I’m looking forward to the parade. Definitely, my biggest memory has been going up Washington Street every year for the Mother Lode Roundup.”
