Update: Highway 12 Reopened After Bus Crash

Update at 6:15 p.m.: The CHP reports that the bus wreckage has been cleared and Highway 12 has reopened to traffic.  (Further details on crash below.)

Update at 5 p.m.: The CHP reports that Highway 12 is currently closed as tow crews are removing a Charter Bus that crashed on the roadway at Toyon Circle. Detours are set up at Highway 12 at 26 near  Toyon Middle  School and Highway 12 and 49 in the San Andreas area.  There is no estimated time given for how long the highway will be closed.

Original post at 4:05 p.m.: Calaveras County, CA — A Charter Bus crash in Calaveras County has resulted in minor injuries.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 12 at the Toyon Circle intersection. The CHP reports that the highway was shut down as passengers were unloaded from the bus. Currently the highway is down to one-way traffic control. CHP spokesperson Rebecca Myers indicates the roadway will be shut down again when the tow truck gets to the scene to remove the bus. She says detours will be set up at Highway 12 at 26 near  Toyon Middle  School and Highway 12 and 49 in the San Andreas area. We will bring you more details as soon as it comes into the news center.
